This potter wasp was photographed last year on August 3rd in my garden on the Golden rod, Solidago plant.
I have also seen a similar one in my conservatory today.

It looks like a type of Ancistrocerus to me.

From the pattern/shape of the yellow bands, is it possible to tell what type of Ancistrocerus it is?

Tilehurst - Reading - Berkshire - UK.

It's nearly impossible to identify most Ancistrocerus by photos, also the present specimen.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
