Really, they were hundred of thousand (at least tens of thousand) of those dipteras, flying everywhere in open spaces of Sénart forest (burned squares or near by), near Paris, on this Sunday 24th of April 2011. I have seen many of its on march previous years (including this one) but never seen such a profusion !! and some birds were flying and hunting, quite losing there mind facing such a scene !
