Have a nice Day. One Question please. Is it possible to identify the type of bibiota I found on my car? I would be very grateful for an answer. Discovery data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, 26.2.2026, size approx. 6mm. Kind regards Karl. karl7 attached the following image: ![]() [161.66Kb] Edited by karl7 on 05-03-2026 19:47 |

Hallo Karl, it's a female Bibio, but if these are the only photos of that specimen, I cannot identify it. We need a lateral photo showing the colours of the body as well as the legs. Also your best image of the head without compression to see the complete antenna. And more, if available.
Greetings, Eric |

A good Evening Eric. Thank you for the Answer and the Information. If I find more Bibio species and can photograph them completely from all sides, I will get back in touch. Otherwise, I will not pursue this genus any further. Kind regards Karl. |
