Have a nice Day. One Question please. Is this a Syrphidae species? Can it be identified more precisely? Unfortunately, I only found this one photo in my archive. I would be very grateful for an answer.
Location data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, house facade, 24.12.2020

Kind regards Karl.

I'd say it is a very dark Episyrphus, due to low temperatures.
Note the vittae on thorax.

Hello Theo thank you for the answer of dark Episyrphus. Then it's a dark Episyrphus balteatus. This species can also be found quite late in the year.

Kind regards Karl.

Yes, it was also around here in our garden these days (northwest Germany). But it should have been posted in the Syrphidae subsection of this forum...
Best regards,
Jürgen

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
