I think it's a Polistes. But, what one?

It was bigger than most European Polistes. The same size than Vespula: maybe 2 cm.

It was found dead in a into the Guilin airport.

A friend suggst me Polistes aurifer but this species is North American and very different-coloured.

Somebody can helps me?

Polistes is ok, but for species identification a real specialist is needed. Polistes is a difficult genus, rich in species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
