Hello!

I also have some Ichneumonidae from the last one or two weeks. The first one, photographed on May 23, was rather large, about 20 mm. Can it be determined? Thanks in advance!

It's certainly IchneumonOIDEA and IchneumonIDAE and probably ichneumonINAE ... but not sure about Amblyteles. To me it looks a bit more like Ichneumon sp. but that's just a 'wild stab in the dark' because it is very difficult to know - without a specimen, good keys - or cthirion's hymenoptera skill Wink

Hello, Jorge and Chris!

Thanks! I had Amblyteles armatorius here (according to "Entomofauna germanica" the only Amblyteles species in Germany), and it looked close but not identical (more yellow on abdomen, see male below).

Valemberg( French icheumonologist) requires your authorization to use these photographs in a work!
Thank you for your attention!

No problem, he may use them freely. I can send pics with higher resolution and less compressed if desired.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
