hello other insektforum, Last evening this cicade was attracted to light on my outside-wall of my house. Does anyone know what kind of cicade this is? It got quite long legs.. Well, technically speaking it is not a cicada. Cicada's are the name for the members of the family Cicadidae, the one's that can make a hell of a noise in tropical area's of the world. It is related to that family, but it belongs to the family of Issidae. The bugs are divided in the Cicadomorpha and Fulgoromorpha. In the Cicadomorpha you'll find the family of Cicadellidae, the real plant hoppers. This family however is in the Fulgoromorpha, just as the family Cicadidae is. greetings, Greetings, Gerard Pennards |

Well, maybe I am just misunderstandig Gerard, but Cicadidae is naturally within Cicadomorpha. So Cicadellidae, Cicadidae and some others - Cicadomorpha Issidae, Delphacidae, Cixiidae and some others - Fulgomorpha Gabor Keresztes Japan Wildlife Gallery Carpathian Basin Wildlife Gallery |

hi Gerard and Xespok, 'wo', all these names  I can not understand these at the moment but I have good news about identification of these Hemiptera. Yes, it is Issidae and the genus is Issus. (you are right Gerard!) And Th. Heijerman coud also say it is Issus coleoptratus! I think these sp. is 'normally' active in juni. Rather common in the south of Holland.
