Hello,

I have got two pictures of different flies, what I cannot identify.

Can somebody help me?

These pictures were taken in Bavaria, Germany:

I will thank you for any answer, Martin

I think both are Anthomyiidae but as this family is sometimes difficult to separate from the Muscidae I do not mind to be corrected by someone more knowledgable. Wink

Could the upper one be Delia floralis? It was 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) long (visual judgment)!

The other foto, could it be Delia radicum?

I guess you mean 15 mm and 5/9 inches? Wink

And maybe they are, maybe not. I would not dare to say.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
