I went higher into the mountains a few days ago (August 16) and took photos of three nice Tachinid flies. When I got home I compared them with Internet photos, and it looks to me like maybe all three are in the same genus, Archytas.

I hope someone can confirm that, or correct me.

First, fly #1, she (?) is feeding on the wildflower Yarrow.

The third one was on low plants alongside the Blackwater River, a small stream.

Are all three of these flies females, or do male Tachinids just not have eyes set close together?

Well, they're all tachinids Grin ... and they *look* similar to my specimens of Archytas here but I couldn't go much further than that Smile
