And again a small (5 mm, with 2 mm Sepsis), dark Muscid from mid August on Heracleum (northwest Germany).

Ah, thanks! Now that you write Morellia, I see the thorax stripe on the thorax of this little bit worn individual. They were numerous at that time...

Take care, these last flies have not the vein M bent forward, so not Morellia, but the look-alike Polietes domitor (and eyes strongly haired too). Wink

The first one is more likely a Hydrotaea after having a second look (genae are very narrow, and vein M seems not so bent finnaly). I looked quicly this morning...

Uhh... But they were so small... I know Polietes domitor from spring. They were much smaller than the currently numerous P. lardarius, but not half the size. But you're right, I should have taken a more close look at the wing venation. Thanks, also for your second look at the other fly.
