Is it a good idea to change the subject of a thread afterwards if it is incorrect or otherwise wrong, for example - I used "Syrphidae sp?", but it was about a different family or when I used "Unknown diptera" because I didn't know better!?

It is certainly a good idea (that has been proposed before) but I leave it to the original posters to do it. Otherwise I will have a day job doing just that. Wink

You should be able to do that by editing the first post of the thread, as long as it is you who started the thread.
