Hi everyone! Is this girl a Spilomyia manicata or another? Unfortunately it only allowed me one good, one mediocre, and one bad picture before flying away - I hope it's enough for ID. Roughly (!) guessed 13-15 mm long, clearly smaller than I remember S. diophthalma to be, which I can also exclude for the black front tibiae/tarsi. Perfectly imitating a wasp, not only in colour, but as well in its style of flying. 25. July 2026, Czechia, Southern Bohemia, at Husinec dam near Prachatice, about 550 m a.s.l. Hi Rupert, Spilomyia manicata is correct (long hairs on scutum, fore tarsus black, fore tibia mostly black...)
Greetings, Eric |
