In 2024 I had found in my garden the species E. bimaculata and E. cornuta but the small fly I present here has a different appearance : there are in particular the sides of the thorax and the pleural region which are frankly orange and I have not found this characteristic in the different species of the genus Elachiptera I saw in the galleries of LMDI and Dipera Info. I would therefore like to have your opinion about the species of this insect. Thank you in advance. Dominique |

As no one else more qualified than me has offered any thoughts, jumping in at the deep end; maybe somewhere around Elachipteera megaspis? |

Thank you, daveb21, for your reply. The species you mention had been suggested but I found my insect's pleura much too orange for the species. However, the intensity and extent of the colour probably may vary. The species E. megaspis seems possible. Perhaps others have different opinions ? Dominique |
