Dear all,
I found this pupa (?) or dry larva near a sap run on Morum alba in Italy, near the Alps but at low altitude.
At first glence on the bark it was similar to Brachyopa but in laboratory it is completely difefrent, any idea?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions

Check out figures 88.22 and 88.23 (Page 1961, Manual of Afrotropical Diptera, volume 3) - available to download at https://www.nhm.a...lume-three It looks like an exact match to me.
