Hi all,
using the keys in Verlinden, I come to the (shaky) conclusion that this might be a female Metasyrphus (Eupeodes) luniger . But some details such as the color of the hair on the scutellum make me doubtful.
Size 10-12 mm.

Comments anyone ?
Thanks for your help
Philippe

It?s quite safe to call this Eupeodes luniger (we don?t use Metasyrphus anymore).

Thanks Andre and Jorge! It does not seem to be common in my area, though, I understand, not rare.

Cheers
Philippe
