Hello,
I found this approx. 9 mm large fly on 20.06.2021 in the underpass at the train station Baden-Baden-Oos. I had posted this fly then in the forum "insektenfotos.de" and Jürgen Peters had written: "very interesting! This might be the first representative of the "worm lions" (Vermileonidae) in the forum. Very similar is for example _Vermileo nigriventris_ I was not aware that the family (still) occurs in Germany, these are rather Mediterranean animals. You should definitely post (also for protection of the species) in the Dipterenforum: https://www.diptera.info/forum/. There are certainly people who are interested in the find.
Greetings
Manfred

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
