epiphragma_ocellaris_anal_lobes_forestpool_bad_bevensen_14march_2009_adapted.jpg
This specific larva was found under the bark of a submerged treetrunk in a forest pool (with Fagus) along the Ilmenau in Bad Bevensen, Germany on 14.iii.2009. At first sight it resembles a Tipula spec. larva in size but is has typical white (unpigmented) anal lobes, but also ventral pseudopods. The latter are most likely used for locomotion under the bark.
