Hi Pentti, not an easy task: Pherbellia (Sciomyzidae)? And the hind tibia seem to have 2 dark rings - cf. annulipes?

Greetings, Eric

Hi Pentti & Eric,

This is a Heleomyzidae, I see a costal break, costal spines and four pairs of dorsocentrals.
There is a Heleomyzid with these kind of infuscated veins: Scoliocentra nigriventris. One of your photo's, Pentti, was identified by Andrzej as that species: https://diptera.i...d_id=72380
And the one shown resembles that one.

Kind regards,
Ectemnius

Hi Ectemnius, and thank you very much - I searched Heleomyzidae first in the gallery! TumbsUp
I think this photo could help in the gallery! (nigrinervis?)

Greetings, Eric

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
