https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/35966672 . Not sure about this fly found in New Zealand, never seen it on the flowers and their not attracted inside. Do find them on walls and windows(outside) that have lichen and moss forming. Has a dark line and two black spots on their wings, completely stripped abdomen, rather light grey almost white in colour. Photos to big to post here.

It is not Phaonia trimaculata, the pattern on the thorax of this species is different. I don't know which Muscidae there are in New Zealand, so I cannot help you any further.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
