Yes, looks like a Calliphorid. Beyond that, you are on your own (unless you collected some). Silvery abdominal tip should be a big clue.

Hello Nacho and Theo,

so what is wrong with Pollenia? only Onesia would be black like this and it is not an Onesia sp.

Best wishes,
John

Well, it is from Morocco, so I am cautious....

Parafacial seems a bit narrow for Pollenia.

absolutely, unless we consider Pollenia leclercqiana, which has a very narrow frons (about the same width as the anterior ocelli). Pollenia leclercqiana has been recorded from Morocco by Lehrer (I think so). Lehrer describes Pollenia leclercqiana as having a petiolate, closed or open r4+5. To my knowledge, only the atramentaria group is black, so it should be Pollenia leclercqiana. It certainly isn't amentaria/moravica, atramentaria or vera. genitalia is better in this case.

I am not an expert but I think that Polenia fits well

Best wishes and Happy Holidays,
John

thanks a lot!!

Actualy I didn't think in Pollenia, but it seems to fit very well. Nevertheless I'm agree with Theo about to be cautious with african flies (with the european ones too, Smile )

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
