Due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to get to Bulgaria last year so even more delighted that I was able to do so again this year. As always the flora and insects were superb. Among the horseflies that I noted were two which I did not recognise. This is the first one - a large blackish species found near Bezbog Lake (2236metres) on 22 July 2017.

I would be very grateful if anyone is able to suggest an identification

Many thanks

Alan
