Here is a Chloropidae I photographed near Marseille on 11 March 2017.
I suspect this is Pseudogaurax. Is is feasible to go further to species level?
I have some specimens in collection, which I can photograph further if need be.
What to use for Chloropidae identification in France, as Séguy (1934, Faune de France 28) may be out of date ?
Thanks for any advice !
Gabriel

Thaumatomyia spec. (Chloropidae). The apical scutellar bristles are closely approximated, see first image, large ocellar triangle. Many images with text in Diptera.info

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
