I saw this robberfly at an altitude of ca. 1900 m, Passo de Lucomagno in Tessin. It flies at the same site as where I found Cyrtopogon ruficornis, in half open coniferous forest. I guess it is a Dioctria, but which one? Medium sized, say 12 - 14 mm. This must be the female, since I saw her ovipositing in the tree stub she's resting on.

The first image shows a member of the subfamily Laphriinae, It's a female of Choerades rufipes, a typical robber fly of the Alps. The second image shows a female of the subfamily Asilinae. It seems to be a species of the genus Machimus - perhaps the chrysitis group. But I'm unsure. Do have some other images of the second one?
