Could someone help me out with this fly? I guess it is of genus Chrysotoxum? Photos are far from perfect and with no other views. I saw this animal on Aquilegia atrata (a columbine species) in the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, June 2016. Thank you. Markus

Your guess is right! It is a C. fasciolatum female.

I see: Chrysotoxum fasciolatum. Matches the mountain region where i saw it. Great. Thank you!
