I?ve photographed this diptera (21 mm.) the 7/2007, in the north-west Sardinia.
Leptomydas already confirmed by Cloraphane.
The Italian Cecklist marks for Sardinia only Leptomydas sardous.
I have the bug in the alcool, available for details.

Hi Pietro,

You are correct, this specimen you nicely photographed and caught last year is Leptomydas sardous - the only species of Mydidae on Sardinia. This species has also recently been recorded from Corsica (Tomasovic 2002 - see http://www.mydidae.tdvia.de/biblio/2000.html ).

I would be interested in this secimen in ethanol as I am starting a larger research project on the phylogeny of Mydidae and host the Apioceridae and Mydidae web-site (www.mydidae.tdvia.de).

Could I also post this photo on the Mydidae web-site?

Thanks Torsten,
I am very glad about your request, you can freely use my photo on your web-site.
I have just seen the site this year, and by now the Leptomydas sardous are not still there ( they will be in the site by July/August).

Ciao
