Hello,
I found this fly in a dry and sandy area just north of Hannover on August 23, 2015.
Is it a Sarcophagidae, and could it be Pterella melanura?

Yes, it is a Sarc. First impression was Hilarella, but you are right, it looks like Pterella.
Based on this one shot, I am not sure, though, and I don't expect this genus so far north (but I can easily be proven wrong in Miltogramminae !)
