ID of Sawfly/Ichneumon

Various sources have suggested a Sawfly or Ichneumon for this. Any info. gratefully received.
Observed 30-09-2011 at map reference SZ685996, Langstone Harbour mouth. As it landed on my hand I can not associate it with any habitat.

It seems to be Apethymus serotinus, a sawfly.
