Hello,

This Syrphidae larva looks like some Episyrphus larva one can find on internet.

What do you think about it ? Smile

Wooww... Never met this one before, or at least never identified any of my syrphids as Melangyna... Shall I begin with a larva ? Grin

Well, I easily imagine identifying larva is really difficult without rearing to imago, so I probably won't ever be certain of anything ?

Thanks Paul Smile

Beno?t,

Do you use the Rotheray ? I don't think one is able to do without it for Syrphidae larvae.

I don't. arthropa.free.fr/images/css-noir/sm-oops.gif

In fact, I don't have any valuable book dealing with diptera : I as yet only try to learn some tricks from people who know more, and from trust-worth websites, but most of the time, I only have some "visual comparisons" to hypothethize IDs for my flies !
That's why some of them may sometime appear pure fantasy !... arthropa.free.fr/images/css-noir/sm-lol.gif

...sur tous les fronts, Pierre ! Wink
