Date 19.ii.11. Size 13mm (wing span 26mm)
Dry Forest. Location: at a junction of tracks, flying conspiciously.
Hermya are good wasp mimics in flight. They belong to the sub-family Phasiinae and about 20 species are distributed throughout the Paleotropics. Using Emden's 1945 paper, the lack of extra rows of black bristles behind the orbitals keys this specimen to Hermya diabolus (great name) which is widely distruted in Africa.
