I'm working on applying the Ag.Canada key - so far I think I have:
1 wing well developed
2 wing broad
3 antenna consolidated
29 lunule present
56 thorax not flattened
58 vibrissa present, greater ampulla??

I think you should end up in Anthomyiidae. This looks like a female Phorbia sp. to me

Many thanks, Stephen - I'll try the key around that point. This is a photo of another specimen that keyed out to Anthomyiidae using another key: might it be the same genus?

Not the same genus, but it is Anthomyiidae,

On the second one I get:
1 A1 goes to margin
3 C with only fine hairs, no scutellum dorsal hairs
4 range: Fucellia - can't be; revert to 5
5 katepisternal bristles not in triangle; wing not darkened
6 scutellum without dorsal hairs;
7 hind tibia without stout apical bristle
8 Antenna and face long
9 parafacial narrow: Pseudochirosia

essentially no info I can find online other than a mention of P.albipennis
any comments?

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
