I'm slowly learning my way around Ag.Canada's Manual of Nearctic Diptera A wings well developed B wing broader C antennal flagellum consolidated; palpus tiny D lunule present E thorax not flattened F greater ampulla present, vibrissa present lower & upper calypteres present 59 ordinary flies pg114 60 meron without bristles [the meron is roughly located above coxa II and III. It is a pleural sclerite of the thorax (as well as the coxopleural streak) and not belonging to parts of the legs. The row of bristles in your picture belonging to coxa II. Compare with fig. 66 on p. 26 in the MND(1). The Northern Kentucky University provides a pictured key to identify families of Calyptrata. The Anatomical Atlas of Flies(2) may help also.
