Well, yes, a Dolichopodidae but I was wondering if anyone could take the ID further? Smile

Here's the second image, where if there was any doubt it was a Dolichopodidae, it is removed!

Surely Condylostylus sp. different from http://bugguide.net/node/view/7472
The genus is most abundant in tropical America, with many species in Nearctics. I doubt that it is possible to ID species by photo.
But some species have remarkable ornamentations on male legs!
Igor.

These are both in the group of species near Condylostylus sipho (6 North American species, 3 of them common). The first is a female and can't be identified further. The second might be a male C. scaber.

Superficially your photos look darker than these species. I assume that is a result of comparing scans of old film to modern digital photos or eyeballs.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
