Thank you! It larvae seem to live in Ammophila, since the dunes are full of this, it is very plausible. the one on the link seems to be another species; M.ornata. Bye, Jonas |

It can't be M. pratorum, I think. Why you thought about this species, Sara? Jonas, is it really 7 mm? Edited by nielsyese on 16-06-2011 20:42 |

Well it is part of key (M. pratorum): protruding part of frons (viewed in profile) greater than length of 3rd segment of ant. or equal to it; width of parafacial not less than width of 3rd segment of ant. Occiput without dark pattern. Stripes of msn. narrow, black; ..... But in my key I don't have ornata species..!!!!! ![]() Edit: Please see http://www.catalogueoflife.org/details/species/id/8721520 In this site I couldn't find any species with name of ornata!!!!! I am really curious about another ideas?? Thanks Edited by Sara21392 on 16-06-2011 21:09 Sincerely yours Sara |

Hi Sara, you have sororcula in your key. That's the older name of ornata. But there seems to be a dark pattern on the occiput on the 2nd picture? Moreover, 7 mm is quite big for all species present in my key (the same key as Sara uses). But of course, a species can be bigger than the sizes in the key. I think the best option for Jonas to get a name is sending it to an expert. For me, these are all speculations, as I'm far from experienced with this group ![]() Best wishes, Niels-Jan |
