Found another species on seaweed, close to the ocean. Varied in size, I think between 5 and 8 mm. Have photos of 2 individuals, both taken on 17.04.2011 in Bodø (northern Norway). Yes, looks very similar to that in the gallery... Unknown family for me though (Heterocheilidae), checked Fauna Europaea, this is the only species in that family? Found this only a few meters from the water, on what appeared to be living algae (not rotten seawood). It's a typical habitat for this species from what I've read on the Norwegian version of Wikipedia (other similar species in other familys live further up on the beach, on rotten or dry seawood). Roger is right, there are all Heterocheila buccata (the first one is a male), the only European species in the family. I have somewhat lightened the last photo : Stephane Lebrun attached the following image:  [48.7Kb] Stephane. |

Yes, I have just got a new camera, sometimes the photos get too dark (had same settings for all of the photos). Looks much better now the last one! Thanks for confirming  |
