Here is an other one that is a bit confusing. Sarcophaga ok with hairs on hind coxa and two short bristles on notopleuron beside the longer ones. As I follow the key it has three strong dc bristles and epandrium bright yellow. As I read the key from the beginning to end and the opposite way it will not lead me anywhere, bacause the genitalia do not fit with this yellow colour. My microscope pictures are bad but I hope something is visible. Only 7.4mm in size. August 6. 2010 Helsinki, Finland. Strange indeed, because this genitalia match, if I'm not completely mistaken, Sarcaphaga carnaria's one... I'm also curious to heard expert opinion on this. Stephane. |

There is no doubt that this is Sarcophaga carnaria. If there are only three dc-bristles on each side, then it must be an aberration. The yellow epandrium could be a sign of very recent eclosure from the puparium and lack of sclerotisation. |

Thank You Thomas. This will solve the problem. I have some other Sarcophaga too with similar yellow epandrium and carnaria genitalia and now I know this is not too unusual. Jari |
