Norway, 08.07.10. Probably not that strange, but I have only seen two like this. I know I have seen a similar one in gallery once, but I can't find it again. cyprinoid attached the following image: ![]() [138.18Kb] Hyperbolizer |

Maybe Hilara? I considered Iteaphila also but wing is a bit different and the antennae also.

So, Empididae... I did not consider that! Thank you Walter Hyperbolizer |

Looks like Roederiodes. Not collected?

Not collected, I tried both times I saw them, but they were extremely nervous. I see that FE does not list any Roederiodes for Norway, unfortunate that I did not catch any, it would be nice if it was Roederiodes then ![]() I will search the same spot next year, a dry slope speckeled with burrows of solitary wasps and bees. Probably a coincidence (?) Edited by cyprinoid on 02-10-2010 21:17 Hyperbolizer |

A similar looking one (to me at least). Found in old boathouse near sea-shore cyprinoid attached the following image: ![]() [145.33Kb] Hyperbolizer |

Definitely a Hilara, this one. Will try to see if I can put a species name on it tomorrow.
