Dear members,

This fly was at least 20mm in size.
Is this a Syrphidae fly or am I wrong?
Seen in the garden in Lower Austria near Vienna, 13.6.10

Thank You

Margarita Auer

Wing venation is wrong for Syrphidae - looks like Tabanidae to me - moving to the correct forum Smile

Hi Margarita

Very nice, Th. gigas female indeed.
I wrote the 'world' review (between '' since the genus is restricted to the western Palaearctic) some 5 years ago in Studia Dipterologica.

Could you please PM the details on locality etc ?

Thanks

Theo
