Unkown small fly

I'm sure I've seen one of these before and got an ID-I may have seen it on a TV natural history program though. Anyway its a small fly seen here on the tip of a small Buddleia leaf, and has two distinct spots near the wingtip, which are often held delta-wing like. ![]() ![]()

Thanks guys, Sepsis, got it! I notice a fly on the homepage,left hand side, the list of Latest uploads, and one of them, Myojela lucida looks similar, at least in profile. |

Myoleja belongs to a completely different family, Tephritidae! Colour, shape of belly and wings, behaviour - all VERY different. Yours is Sepside, and genus Sepsis is the best ID that can be done from these photos. Be careful with comparisons; often minute details, especially genitalia, are decisive for classification.
