This may well be the same species as I posted yesterday, see http://www.dipter...ost_130861. 'Slightly' better photos this time, certainly more of them. I've tried keying it out using Belshaw; without a satisfactory answer. If the mouth is projecting - hard to say - then I get to Cadurciella; if not projecting, I get to Cyzenis, but that should have at least one proclinate parafrontal - I can't see any. Or perhaps I've gone hopelessly wrong somewhere previously. 21/4/2010; Devon, England Tim tim worfolk attached the following image: ![]() [131.46Kb] Edited by tim worfolk on 21-04-2010 20:17 |

Mouth doesn't look projecting to me, though Cadurciella is probably the most borderline species to run through that couplet Doesn't fit Cadurciella to me though - I have had them a few times on good grassland sites with plenty of Green Hairstreak. In the absence of a specimen the Cyzenis looks the best bet so far

What is wrong with Cyzenis albicans ? It has this proclinate orbital clearly in last pic, except that it is lateroclinate (accidental) ? Theo |

Thanks to both of you for clearing this up, I obviously need to learn my bristles - or take better photos. Nice fly and a first for me. Thanks Tim |
