Hi, Taken on 22nd September 2009 on an Ivy flower, near Lincoln UK. The ivy is overhanging water. I think this was smaller than some Ephydrids, probably less than 2mm. 1 pic only, but I'm posting a view of the whole Ivy flower for size. Chloropidae: Tricimba, with the unmistakable three grooves in the mesonotum. Now you know it is Chloropidae, you will also be able to make out the enlarged ocellar triangle on the frons.

Thank you Paul! I see the triangle now, and I was thinking the wings reminded me of something else. I have checked what we have here, in the sug-genus Tricimba there is only Tricimba lineella. There is also the sug-genus Nartshukiella with T. cincta and T. humeralis. Another sub-genus, Crassivenula has only T. brachyptera. Is there any way to narrow it down to species given this?
