Until now no reaction! There are two possibilities: 1. it is too obvious! How is it possible that mr van der Weele has no idea it is naturally a....... 2. it is too complicated, because the photo is not clear enough. Well, Paul, indeed. The third option is far more friendly towards me. Thanks! I hope that the fly is interesting to the few specialist. I think that only occasionally you have the chance of seeing flies from Saudi Arabia. In fact I have another specimen and some muscidae. Well, to be honest, Sarcophagidae and Muscidae do not make my heart beat faster, even if they are from Saudi Arabia...

Ruud, Sarcophaga is a difficult genus and most specialist only identify male specimen with genitalia dissected. Your pictures are nice, but the specimen shown is a female. Some species might be identified by the female if the local fauna is well known. You may send the specimen to me, as I have got some experience with Sarcophagidae from Yemen. But I do not pretend to be a specialist in that fauna. Otherwise you might send specimens to Thomas Pape (the world specialist on Sarcophagidae), and hope that he has time to have a look at it. Or you might try to make a picture of a close up ot the genitalia: we need a ventral view and a distal view of T6 etc (the red part). Good luck Liekele |
