Hi, I would like to ask if this H. illucens is abnormal, as the last terguites are brown instead of black.
The animal was found cadaver at Can Grau, Beuda, Girona province (UTM 31T DG7477, 400 m), on 10-09-2009

Nope, this is normal. There is a lot of variation in the abdominal and wing color. I have specimens with nearly complete reddish abdomen...

It´s interesting, when I knew it came from America tried this http://www.itis.g...lue=130289 in case they´re all so variable it will be very difficult to identify them there!!

The genus is a mess, but they are often very different... I have a few pics on my website, they seem to be all undescribed...
