Hi,

I didn't manage to find its id. Even didn't find its family..Frown
I only got one picture but would love to know its family and if possible a Genus and maybe a specie name ...
Taken in the local nature reserve, Gent, Belgium on the 19th of May..
Any help very much appreciated..Smile

Unmistakable (once you know where to look for it Pfft): Empis tessellata, female.

Oh, I would never had thought it was a female with its eyes so close together and even joining.
Must be one of these tricky exeptions then in that family....

Oops, you are right. It's a male. Usually males of tessellata do not have the tip of the abdomen bent to such an extent.

If my wings were that frayed, my abdomen would also probably be a bit bent...
