On www.faunaeur.org I found that Homoneura subnotata has been synonymised with Homoneura notata. Does anyone know if this synonymisation is already official, and if so, where (and by whome) it is published?

I do not know by whom but see: http://www.faunae...p?id=62045. Apparently, someone was wise and noticed that something had gone wrong when Papp separated notata and subnotata and Papp's notata is now called dilecta. Maybe Andrey can enlighten us, as he did several reviews on Lauxaniidae, too.

IMAO: Papp's work did not make sense. He found that 'notata' was actually two species, and he named them notata and subnotata. Oddly enough, the species with the northern distribution was called subnotata, while the (Scandinavian) Fallen's notata was linked to a species with a southern distribution...

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the explanation! Maybe more information can be found in:

Merz, B., 2003. The Lauxaniidae (Diptera) described by C. F. Fall?n with description of a misidentified species of Homoneura v. d. Wulp. Insect Systematics and Evolution 34: 345-360.

I already sent him an e-mail to ask for more information on the subject.

See if you can get him to post a pdf reprint, or at least make it available for distribution. I would certainly be interested to have a reprint. Wink

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
