Hello!

Today there sat a Syrphidae in a garden in the Canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, on a Fuller's teasel, Dipsacus fullonum, with Mildew.

Can you identify this fly and its sex, if possible?

Thank you, Xaver

Thoracic and abdominal pattern are characteristic of Myathropa florea. Judging from the tip of the abdomen (rather rounded terminal segment) I would say a male.
