I can't even decide a family for this fly. The abdomen seems tiny compared with those found in most families.

It is an anthomyiid. An 'undersized' abdomen is a common feature in this family, but it is hardly a definite character.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
