Hi Kurt All GOnia are early spring species, except for G. capitata which is very orange. So this must be a Pseudogonia. Theo |

Based on the location, how about Onychogonia flaviceps? I don't think there are any Pseudogonia up here.. Jaakko |

Thanks Jaako for your suggestion. I can see that Pseudogonia rufifron are on Swedish list. Two photos from today 31 august from another site 5-6 km away from first place. I presume it is same species. Altitude between 80-200 m. Can these pictures tell sometyhon more? kurt attached the following image:  [81.26Kb] |

Pseudogonia rufifrons from Sweden ?? Are you sure ?? In any case,it is probably very rare. SO I'd go for Onychogonia for the time being. Theo |

I said to much with Pseudogonia rufifrons. There are no reports but it is listed on artportalen.se so I thougt it was on Sweedish list. There are five reports of Onychogonia flaviceps from Northern part of Sweden also near Gulf of Botnia so parhaps could this be the species on my photos. Kurt Holmqvist |

I have ID'd one P. rufifrons from Finland, but this was a clear import. Reared from a (arctiid?) larva on potted Vitis vinifera... My suggestion was purely based on the Finnish records, although I'm suspecting that there is another species in the northern most mountains. I have only seen one, so can't say more. |
