Hello all
Any suggestion for this one ? I thought of Leopoldius signatus, male, but the very dark wings and the size (max 8 mm - it was small!) makes me doubt.
Thanks for your help
Philippe

I would have gone for Leopoldius, too.

Thanks Paul.
Apparently there are not many species of conopidae known from Belgium (36, I read) and most of them infrequent or rare. I wonder which species this might be....
According to this

http://home.hccnet.nl/mp.van.veen/conopidae/leopoldius.html

it seems the only candidate is L. signatus But the size was reeeeally small : certainly much less than 10 mm I should say...

it seems to have a small proboscis... do you recall if it has a conspicuous proboscis? Leopoldius has a very small proboscis...

Hi Jorge,
I don't remember seeing a significant proboscis, but now I didn't really manage a side or frontal view.
Yet I think it is very likely a Leopoldius, but which one is the question , I guess...

Cheers
Philippe
