Nikita: Can you please tell me why it's Heleomyzidae and not Sciomyzidae?

The spines on the costal vein are a good indication.

Spines or 4 post dc or jizz...
Actually, during my first year in Diptera, it was a nightmare to differ Scio-, Heleo- and Scatho-, one day it will be clear for nothing.

Indeed, a male of Suillia ! Very interesting. Arista rather ? plumose or long pubescent and scutellum bare in the middle ? Difficult for ID !

Jan and Nikita, thank you for taking the time to explain.

Andrzej: I think I would describe the arista "rather plumose" as opposed to pubescent, but that might not mean the same thing for an expert as it does for me. I will post some arista close-ups later, and hopefully one that shows the scutellum clearly.

Don't know if there's any point, but here is a overly sharpened pic showing the arista. And I would say that the scutellum is bare in the middle (if that is the "shield" between the wings Smile)

I would say Suillia cf. similis . The tip of wing with a big sharp spot and dull frons is typical for this species !
