Just back from a week in South Wales. A few nice flies on the dunes which I'm slowly working my way through. This appears to be Siphona setosa - 4 post dc, long antenna, pair of med marg bristles on abd 1+2, reddish tegula? Only wish the photos were better.

4/8/2009; Glamorgan, Wales. Dune scrub.

Thanks

Tim

I'd really need a proper lateral head shot,

antenna is long but not that long, so it does not convince me,
unless it is a female (difficult to see).

SO any more shots ?

Well, setosa is not common and geniculata very variable from behind, so I'm not gonna call this one

WEll, thank you very much, that is not often you hear that.
But a scientist should at least try to question all results before accepting them.

Standard discleimar, repeated once again:
positive IDs are 95 % certain at the most, I cannot reckon with all extremely rare species and so on.
From pictures, that is,

Theo
